Gobanko, known in Japanese as Gobenkei (ゴーベンケー), is a GBK-type Medabot that first appeared in Medarot R.

Description[]

Gobanko is based on Japanese warrior monk Benkei, and is designed more as a bulky fighter sporting a blue and grey color scheme. He holds a naginata (a bladed staff) on the right hand and a tetsubō (an iron bat) on his left, and he has several weapons stored in his pack. His leg parts are named after the Gojō Bridge.

In the games[]

Gobanko fills the role as both the team's heavy-armor member and close-range fighter. His armor is much higher than average parts, allowing him to take heavier blows and still fight. Gobanko's head is a "Destroy" attack done with his weapons that can utterly destroy an opponent's part with a single hit. His right arm is a basic "Sword" attack, while the left arm is a basic "Hammer" attack. As a bipedal Medabot, Gobanko has pretty good mobility on most terrain without serious consequence, although he is a bit slow due to his weight.

In the manga[]

In Medarot Reloaded, Kagami and Metabee faced a Gobenkei in the preliminary tournament that would decide Japan's participants in the world tournament. Metabee destroyed both of his weapons, and whenever he picked another weapon from his back, Metabee destroyed it before he had a chance to use it, destroying all of them and his arms, leaving him without a way to attack.

In the anime[]

Anime Gobanko B

In the anime.

A Gobanko with a Kuwagata Medal is used by Squidguts and physically he is one of the Rubberobo Gang's strongest Medabots, fighting against Metabee in the episode Bridge Over Troubled Squidguts. Besides its normal use like a hammer, Gobanko's iron bat can launch the tip, which is attached by a chain, allowing him to use it like a kusari-fundo.

He was voiced by Masayuki Kiyama in the Japanese version. In the English dub his model number is GBK-7211.
