Kantaroth, known in Japanese as Kantaros[1] (カンタロス), is a KBT-type Medabot that first appeared in the manga Medaroter Rintarou!.

Description[]

Kantaroth is an improved, lightweight version of Metabee, with a blockier appearance and a duller color. Out of all of the various KBT type models, Kantaroth has the fewest visible differences from the original model. His name comes from "kantharos", which means "beetle" in Greek. The "kai" in his parts means improved in Japanese.

In the games[]

In Medarot R, all of Kantaroth's stats are superior to Metabee. From Medarot 3 onward, all of his parts are mainly faster than Metabee, while his attack and armor are similar or inferior. Kantaroth has the same attacks as Metabee: Missile, Rifle, and Gatling.

Medarot 3[]

His head and leg parts have a different attribute from the arms, so two parts from a fully assembled Kantaroth will not have a compatibility bonus with the same Medal. His arms are more compatible with the Kabuto, Kuwagata, B Kuwagata, B Kabuto, King and Ace Medals, while his head and legs are more compatible with the Vehicle, Bird, Samurai and Queen Medals.

Medarot 4[]

Kantaros is used by Rintaro as his leading Medarot.

His stats are identical to his Medarot 3 appearance.

Medarot Navi[]

Miss Tamawo utilizes a Kantaros as backup during her fight in the postgame of the Kabuto Version. Rintaro, however, is not seen with him, but rather with Arc Beetle Dash, making the fight with Miss Tamawo the only chance to obtain one of his parts.

His model number in this game is KBT-3BF.

Robattle-wise, he serves as a weaker and less accurate, but lighter version of Metabee.

Medarot 8[]

His model number was updated to KBT03 in the new format, and his legs gained the effect Generator. He is a DLC exclusive Medarot.

Medarot 9[]

The effect from his legs changed to "Taishokubi". He can only be obtained as an online communication gift in the Kabuto Version.

Besides Kantaros, Medarot 9 introduced a variation named Kantaros R that is obtained with the password PMVLUK5YJAA7. Kantaros R has a slightly different design, the Rifle and Gatling attacks from his arms are swapped, and his legs have a different effect.

Medarot S: Unlimited Nova[]

The effect from his legs changed to Trigger Happy. His parts can only be obtained in the gacha that requires the tickets obtained in the Medaleague mode.

In the manga[]

In Medaroter Rintarou!, Kantaros is a KBT type 2020 customized by Rintaro. He is usually silent, only speaking when needed.

In the Medarot R manga, his Medal was transferred to a new body, Arcbeetle.

In the anime[]

Anime Kantaroth

In the anime.

Kantaroth is Rintaro's Medabot. In his first appearance, Kantaroth is mistaken for Metabee, causing trouble for Ikki and his partner due to Rintaro’s overzealousness and disregard for protocol in Robattle. As he has a Kabuto Medal, Kantaroth temporarily went out of control when the Rubberobo Gang controlled all Kabuto Medals from the world in the episode Beetle Mania.

In Medabots Spirit, Rintaro and Kantaroth have brief cameo appearances as characters from a TV show with a design similar to the Medaroter Rintarou! manga. They can be seen in Once a Medafighter (1) and The Agony of the Cheat, the latter being only in the Japanese version.

In the Japanese version, he was voiced by Takayuki Kondo and rarely speaks. In the English dub, Kantaroth's model number is KBT-11220-3 and he is more talkative.

Cards[]

Kantaroth has a rare card in the Medabots Trading Card Game booster set. Much like Metabee, he attacks with a "Piercing Shooting Attack", which allows him to damage Medabots to the side of the target if the target is destroyed.
