Medawatch

A basic Medawatch in the anime.

A Medawatch, known in Japanese as a Medarotch (メダロッチ), is a special watch used by a Medafighter to give commands to their Medabot. Medawatches store Medals so that Medafighters may transport their Medabot from anywhere. It also allows switching parts and Medals, and communication between the Medafighter and the assigned Medabot. Medawatches also tell time, like normal wrist watches.

The Medawatch's design varies depending of the media and user. Originally it was a wrist watch. From Medarot DS to Medarot 9, it is a free smartphone application. Both versions appear in Medarot S: Unlimited Nova, the term Medawatch being described in the term list as being any mobile terminal or software from the Medabot Corporation that can be used to manage Medabots.

In the games[]

The Medawatch acts as a menu that allows the player to customize Medabots in the team by changing parts and Medals, and see the list of parts available.

During Medarot 2 and its GBA remake, a new Medawatch that enables the Medaforce was released. Unknown to Ikki, his first Medawatch was this new version, making him the only Medafighter able to use the Medaforce for some time. After defeating Squidguts in Mt. Odoro, Ikki learns about the new Medawatch model when it is released, and all characters become able to use the Medaforce.

In Medarot 3, Ikki lost all data from his Medawatch due to the magnetic storm caused by Electra, losing everything he had obtained in the previous game.

In the anime[]

In the anime, as well as the manga, the Medawatch can transfer Medabots and replace parts. To transfer a complete Medabot, a Medal must be on the Medawatch. It can also eject the Medal from the Medabot's Tinpet.

The Medawatch appeared in the Medabots anime in multiple colors, with functions similar to the games.

In The Medaforce Within, Joe revealed that he developed a way to make his Wigwamo able to transfer while the Medal is on the Tinpet instead of the Medawatch, improving his mobility.

In Metabee's Last Stand, Dr. Aki created a giant Medawatch to command the Giant Metabee. The Medafighter wears it on the waist like a belt.

In Medabots Spirit, Ikki Tenryou replaced his Medawatch by a new Medawatch Advance (メダロッチアドヴァンス) version that has new functions, such as allowing the Medafighter to see what the Medabot is seeing. Rogue Medafighters have a Kilobot counterpart that is known in Japanese as Death Medarotch (デスメダロッチ).

Toys[]

The Medawatch was released as part of some toys, such as being the remote control from two moving Metabee (Saikachi) figures from Takara,[1] and four simple Medawatch miniatures were included with a set of Medabot figures from Bandai so other figures can use them to become their Medafighters.[2]
