Forums: Index > Wiki Discussion > Switching back to English terms?

Anyone still here? I've been considering switching the wiki back to using English names and terms for a while, since that seems to be what most of the new editors prefer using. It would be a lot of work, but I'd be willing to take care of most of it since I think it would help attract way more casual editors as well as differentiate it from Medapedia, which will still be using Japanese terms.

I know a lot of people prefer the English names, but I originally pushed to use the Japanese ones since I thought it would help make the site more organized... Considering that most of the original editors have left though, it seems unlikely that it will ever be 100% complete in covering everything from the Japanese games because there simply aren't any current editors here who are really familiar with them. I think this wiki could get more accomplished if it trimmed itself down and focused more on the English games and anime, which is what it was originally intended for before Soujiro and I took it over. *nod*

I'm not sure how many people will see this, but I'll leave this topic up for a couple of weeks to see what the current editors have to say. If you have an opinion about which names/terms the site should be using, please leave a comment here!

If I don't get a response I'll start switching back to English terms in a month or so. That should be sufficient time for anyone still fond of the Japanese terms to voice their complaints. :)

Still no responses? I'll be leaving this open for another two weeks. Please let me know what you think! ~ Kimbles (talk) 16:22, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Well, I've decided to go ahead with it, and also remove the content on the Japan-only games/Medarots to give the wiki a bit more focus. (See the news on the main page for more details!)

If you have any questions or concerns about the change, please post them here and I will try to respond ASAP. ~ Kimbles (talk) 18:28, October 18, 2012 (UTC)
