Medabots, known as Medarot 2 CORE (メダロット弐CORE) in Japan, is a 2D top-down RPG developed by Natsume and published by Imagineer for the Game Boy Advance. It was released first in Europe, then in North America and last in Japan. It is a remake of the Japan-only Game Boy game Medarot 2.

It comes in two versions. In the European and American versions, they are the Metabee Version and the Rokusho Version, whilst in the Japanese version they are the Kabuto Version and the Kuwagata Version. The differences are some version-exclusive Medabots and Medals, but the storyline is the same. The soundtrack throughout the game is composed by Kinuyo Yamashita.

The game was later released for the Wii U Virtual Console, and in Japan it was also released as part of Medarot Classics Plus.

Gameplay[]

You play as Ikki Tenryou, a Japanese boy, who travels through the Medabots world. Throughout the game you fight Robattles against other Medafighters using the Medabots which you have assembled and collected, sometimes facing off against the Rubberrobo Gang and other rivals in the game. Just like in the anime, at the end of the battle the Medafighter who loses must submit one of their Medaparts to the winner.

Story[]

The game begins when Ikki is going to visit Dr. Aki, after which he has a short interaction with Nae. Ikki goes straight home where is sent to the convenience store by his mom to buy groceries for dinner. When he gets to the convenience store he is stopped by Henry and is forced to buy a Tinpet with a full set of Metabee/Rokusho Medaparts, depending on the version. Later that night Ikki's dad bumps into Phantom Renegade and is given a Medal, he gives the medal to his son Ikki as a present, and now he has a fully assembled Medabot. The next day Ikki meets up with Erika and goes to school where they encounter the Screws. Ikki then Robattles Sloan, Spyke, and Samantha. After winning against all three individually, the Screws tries to gang up on Ikki, only to be beaten by the Medaforce.
