Medarot 2 (メダロット2) is the second game from the Medabots series, released for Game Boy Color (compatible with Game Boy and Super Game Boy) on July 23, 1999 in two versions, Kabuto (カブトバージョン) and Kuwagata (クワガタバージョン). Both versions also had a limited edition (初回限定盤) that included a Rappy card with the codes to unlock his parts and a Medal for the Medarotch toy.

Medarot 2 was also released as part of Medarot Classics and Medarot Classics Plus, and received an improved port for Game Boy Advance that was released outside Japan as Medabots. The game Medarot S: Unlimited Nova has a retelling of Medarot 2's story.

The Medabots anime was mainly based on Medarot 2.

Story[]

Seven years after their defeat by Hikaru in Medarot, the Roborobo Gang has returned and began doing evil again. Ikki Tenryou, a boy who loves Medarots, received a Medarot from Hikaru and ended up involved in the schemes of the Roborobo Gang, entering in a series of Robattles to stop the Roborobo Gang.

Gameplay[]

Each version has Medarots and Medals exclusive to them, and many battles have different Medarots.

Also, 60 of the 151 Medarots in Medarot 2 can only be obtained by trading with the first game or Medarot Parts Collection, such as Magentacat, Cyandog, Yellowturtle, Beast Master, and the original Metabee.

Trivia[]

  • During development, early ideas for the game's story included:[1]
    • The protagonist would be the child of Hikaru and Kirara.
    • Medarot Island would be the main setting, the story happening during a winter vacation.
    • Bad aliens would invade the planet, and the protagonist would team up with good aliens to stop them. This idea was later used in Medarot 3.
    • Two new groups, Torutoru Gang (トルトル団) and Tranger Corps (トレンジャー隊), would replace the Roborobo Gang and Select Corps.
