Select Corps in the anime.
The Select Corps (セレクト隊) are a defense force established primarily to deal with threats and offences pertaining to Medabots and the use of Medabots internationally. In the anime they are described by Dr. Aki as "a special peacekeeping unit created to protect the world from criminal attacks perpetrated by Medabots". On-duty officers of the Select Corps can be recognised by their metallic shoulder/armguards and distinguishing jumpsuit. The majority of on-duty Select Corps officers can also be seen wearing highly distinctive visored helmets which notably conceal the entire upper section of the head.
Video games[]
In the first Medarot game, the Select Corps is actually a cover for the Rubberobo Gang. The leader of the Select Corps is Taiyō, and other members include Minori, Daichi, and Kakashi.
After the first game, the Select Corps became a proper policing force that is paraded as famed heroes and celebrities. In Medarot 2 the Select Corps is under the leadership of Captain Awamori and his Lieutenant Tokkuri. However, Awamori is inept and does little more than seize the credit for the work of others, and as the Select Corps members follow their captain almost blindly, it makes them as incompetent as their leader. Tokkuri eventually stood up against his captain to help Ikki Tenryou, which would put his career at risk if not for a polaroid taken inside Fiyun that Ikki gave to him, which helped Tokkuri to open the eyes from the other members to fire their captain, with Tokkuri taking his place as the captain. The Select Corps have three dinosaur themed Medabots associated with them: Attack-Tyrano, Air-Ptera, and Landbrachio. The conceited Medabots with Awamori self-proclaim themselves as the "Select 3" (セレクトスリー, also called the "Select Trio").
Their counterpart from Shingata Medarot is named M-PK.
Anime[]
The anime series portrays the Select Corps as an efficient, well-organised agency which is tactically sufficient, and technologically advanced, but lacking in the firepower needed to deal with major threats such as Giganko. The anime also portrays the Select Corps as a more secretive, undercover organisation than the video games, as the identities of officers working for the Select Corps are seemingly not made public except to close relatives of the individual, as evidenced by the confidentialilty surrounding the profession of Select Corps member Jouzou Tenryou. The Select Corps have the same three Medabots as the second game associated with them. They first appeared in the episode The Mother of All Robattles.
